Texas Hold'em Poker betting structure rules

There are four possible betting rounds in Texas Hold'em poker, shown in the poker rules above. The general structure on ParadisePoker.com doesn't differ from that of a brick & mortar cardroom.

Each bet and raise during the first two rounds is set at the lower limit of the stakes structure. For example in a $5/$10 Texas Hold'em game, all bets and raises are $5 for the first two rounds (after pocket cards are dealt and after the flop).

Betting and raising during the last two rounds is set at the higher limit of the stakes structure. Same Texas Hold'em example; all bets and raises are $10 for the last two rounds (after the turn and after the river), following accepted poker rules.

The maximum allowable number of bets per ParadisePoker.com player during any betting round in Texas Hold'em poker is four. This includes a (1) bet, (2) raise, (3) re-raise, and (4) cap. The term cap is used to describe the 3rd raise in a round since betting is then capped and can't be raised further. Once capped, players will have only the option of calling or folding. ParadisePoker.com follows common poker rules in this regard. Note that there is no cap to the number of raises in No Limit and Pot Limit games.

Check-raising is allowed in all ParadisePoker.com poker games, with these rules including Texas Hold'em.

Button & blinds for Texas Hold'em on ParadisePoker.com    dealer button

At ParadisePoker.com a flat disk is used at the Texas Hold'em poker table. This is called the dealer-button to indicate the theoretical dealer of each hand.

After each hand has completed, as with standard poker rules, the button moves clockwise to the next active player. This player will be considered to be playing "the button" for that hand. In Texas Hold'em the player to the left of the button is first to receive a card and is required to post a small blind. The small blind is equal to half the lower limit bet rounded down to the nearest dollar. The player to the left of the small blind is required to post the big blind, equal to the lower limit bet. These poker blind structure rules for Texas Hold'em on ParadisePoker.com are the same as found in brick & mortar cardrooms.

Both blinds in poker are considered live bets and therefore, according to poker rules, have the option of checking, calling, raising or folding when the betting action returns to their position. After the flop and each subsequent betting round, the first active Texas Hold'em player left of the button is first to act. ParadisePoker.com offers you a genuine cardroom experience.

When a player first sits at an active ParadisePoker.com Texas Hold'em table they'll be required to post the equivalent of the big blind, an important feature of online poker rules. All players have the option of sitting out and waiting for the actual big blind before starting to play Texas Hold'em poker. Fairness is ensured to all ParadisePoker.com poker players with these rules. By preventing players from constantly entering poker games in late position and leaving before they're required to post, these rules stop potential abuse of the online environment.

ParadisePoker.com invites you to experience the excitement of Texas Hold'em poker in a heads-up 1-on-1 format. In heads-up Texas Hold'em poker rules, the button posts the small blind. Before the flop the button is first to act. Heads-up poker rules, followed by ParadisePoker.com, dictate that betting rounds are capped after a total of six bets instead of the usual four..

Match your Texas Hold'em poker skills straight-up against your opponent right here at ParadisePoker.com!

Online poker card game hand Rankings

Hands are ranked identically to the method used in any standard poker card game. The rule of poker hands below are ranked from highest (royal flush) to lowest (high card). This general rule of poker hands applies to every online poker card game; play money or poker for real money.

Royal Flush      royal flush

Straight Flush  straight flush

4-of-a-Kind      four of a kind

Full House        full house

Flush                flush

Straight            straight

3-of-a-Kind       three of a kind

Two Pair           two pair

One Pair           one pair

High Card         high card

Rule of poker hands & rankings

If two or more hands are the same ranking, the winner is the one having the higher cards. For example, a Flush with an Ace high beats a Flush with a King high. If the poker hands remain tied, then the highest card not being held in common (the kicker) determines the winner. Paradise follows standard rule of poker. A poker tip of the trade is to make sure you have these hand rankings memorized.

Should poker hands be absolutely identical in ranking, the rule of poker pot distribution will be split evenly between the two or more winning players. If there is an odd chip, the winning player to the left of the button/dealer will receive it. This applies to both play money and poker for real money.
